Athletics World Rankings
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 June 2026
Athletics World Rankings (“the App”) is a mobile app provided by Cedric Dubler (“we”, “us”, “our”), based in Australia. This policy explains how the App handles information. It applies only to the Athletics World Rankings mobile app — not to any other website or product.
The short version
- No account, no sign-up. You don’t give us your name, email, or a password.
- Your data lives on your device, not on our servers. You can erase it any time inside the App.
- To show you rankings, the App asks our data service for public World Athletics information — those requests include the public athlete ID and event you’re looking at.
- We don’t run ads, third-party analytics, or trackers, and we never sell your data.
1. No accounts
The App works without any sign-up. We don’t ask for or hold names, email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords.
2. Information stored on your device
When you import an athlete’s World Athletics profile and plan performances, that information — the imported results, your saved events, plans, and settings — is stored locally on your device using the device’s standard app storage. It stays on your device and is not uploaded to an account.
You can delete all of it at any time using “Erase all data” in the App’s menu, or by uninstalling the App.
3. Information sent to our data service
To display World Athletics rankings, top lists, and results, the App sends look-up requests to our backend service at api.athleticstools.com. These requests contain:
- the public World Athletics athlete identifier and the event you’re viewing, and
- standard technical details that every internet request includes, such as your device’s IP address.
Our service uses these only to fetch the relevant publicly available World Athletics data and return it to your App. We do not maintain a database of users or link these requests to an identity. Our hosting providers (see below) keep short-term request logs for security and reliability, which may temporarily include the above details. We do not use this information for advertising and we do not sell or rent it.
4. Where the data comes from: World Athletics
The rankings, results, and athlete information shown in the App are sourced from World Athletics, drawn from publicly available information. World Athletics is an independent third party; we are not affiliated with it (see our Terms of Use). Its information is subject to its own terms and may be incomplete, delayed, or change without notice.
5. Third-party services we rely on
We use a small number of service providers to run the App:
- Vercel and Cloudflare — host and serve our data service (api.athleticstools.com) and process requests, including IP addresses, as part of normal operation.
- Expo / Expo Application Services — delivers over-the-air app updates; your device contacts Expo’s servers to check for updates.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — distribute the App and, if you ever make an in-app purchase, process the payment. We never see your card or payment details.
Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy.
6. What we don’t do
- We don’t show advertisements.
- We don’t use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and we don’t track you across apps or websites.
- We don’t sell, rent, or trade your information.
7. In-app purchases
If the App offers a paid unlock, purchases are handled entirely by Apple or Google. They process payment and share only what’s needed to confirm your purchase status; we don’t receive your payment information.
8. Children’s privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. As the App requires no account and stores data only on the device, no personal information is collected by us in the usual sense.
9. Your choices and rights
Because your information stays on your device and we hold no account data, you remain in control:
- Delete everything via “Erase all data” in the App, or by uninstalling it.
- Depending on where you live (e.g. under the Australian Privacy Principles, GDPR, or similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information. Since we don’t hold an identifiable record of you, there’s typically nothing for us to retrieve — but you can contact us with any request.
10. Security
We use reputable hosting providers and standard protections (such as encrypted HTTPS connections). No system is perfectly secure, but the App’s privacy-light design — no accounts, on-device storage — keeps your exposure low.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be reflected here.
